What a joy when two good friends finally meet again after a long time! The artist Carl Spitzweg was able to portray this joy in 1855 in his painting "Die Jugendfreunde" (original Childhood Friends). There are two people who can not be more different - the one who stayed home and the far-traveled one. Here, as in many other of his paintings, the artist succeeds in creating a form of personal characterization that typifies English and French caricatures. The lifelong, one-sided occupation of a person appears as a distortion of the human species to a grotesque but lovable special species. Today you can see the original in the Municipal Gallery in Lenbachhaus and Kunstbau. It is a perfect gift for a good old friend of your youth.

Childhood Friends by Carl Spitzweg. Available as an art print on canvas, photo paper, watercolor board, uncoated paper or Japanese paper.
