The term scherzo comes from music as part of a symphony or sonata. A joke, so the German translation, Franz von Stuck thus painted. Obviously a very erotic as well as crude and grotesque joke. For the intentions of the male mythical creature in the middle are clearly sexual in nature. The completely naked young woman on the right side of the picture is by no means averse to his advances, while the left female figure obviously wants to separate the faun from the blond beauty. The left female figure is dressed in a dark blue dress, only her right breast is naked. The right female figure, however, is completely naked and looks almost shameless in this nudity. However, it remains unclear whether the clothed woman wants to prevent the naked one for moral reasons from a misstep - or whether she is not simply jealous of them, because she has won the favor of Fauns.
