The English painter William Turner is considered one of the most important landscape painters of the Romantic period. With fast brushstrokes and shimmering light, he creates scenes that look alive and are atmospheric. Irrespective of whether Turner paints moving waters, a harbor or a river landscape, water plays a major role in many of the artist's almost impressionistic paintings; also at "Schloss Rosenau - Coburg", just as far as the composition of the picture is concerned. The aforementioned castle towers in the upper right part of the picture and, thanks to pastel tones, changes almost imperceptibly into the light blue sky. Striking and at first glance more effective, however, is the picturesque river that winds its way back into the picture. On the right you can see playing children with a fishing rod in their hands. Her red pants set accents and draw the eye as well as the high tree in the water on the left side of the picture.
