The inspiration for this picture gave small lizards, which I once observed on a staircase on a vineyard hill. I was fascinated by their smooth, nimble movements. In this drawing, I started with a curved outline, which I then filled in with a string of varied patterns. Each of the pattern elements is basically just black lines and dots of various thicknesses. Nevertheless, each pattern element is unique and arises spontaneously in the creative process. Even if you were to place two of my works next to each other, you will not find a pattern twice.
The curved or almost squiggly outline together with the diverse patterns creates a very dynamic impression. When you look at it for a longer time, you almost have the impression that the lizard is moving along the leaf. And that's why I also think that the Spanish word for gecko "Salamanquesa" fits this picture much better, because it sounds so beautifully melodic.
