The subject of this picture is actually a common, very popular motif: an elegantly dressed lady, half of whose face or eyes are hidden under a slanted hat. Thus, it took me no imagination to find the motif. However, the interpretation of this motif is new. The woman consists of black filigree patterns, which I painted with ink pens. After scanning the image, I still digitally added a bright pink background and additionally colored the lips and a few other small elements of the woman in this pink. I deliberately chose the digital method for the background so that the color of the background is completely even pink and a slight pinkish shadow outlines the woman, but this is difficult to achieve with acrylic paints or other physical colors in this perfect evenness. This intense background color, together with the curved hat band, creates a very energetic and dynamic impression. Nevertheless, the lady does not show her whole face to the viewer and the image thus retains its mysterious elegance and a completely new interpretation of a popular motif. Personally, working on this painting showed me that you don't have to reinvent the wheel to find something new. One should only occasionally change one's view of old familiar things. An elegantly dressed lady, shyly hiding her gaze under her big hat, can still carry a strong life energy. And stylistically, the painting combines elements from the Far East (mandala art or ornamental art) with elements from Western Pop Art (brightly colored, large surfaces). Thus, the fusion of completely different styles provides a new look at the old familiar. The original picture was created on DIN A4 and to ensure a smooth, pixel-free representation of the lines, I would not exceed a format of 50 x 70 cm (downward the scope is open). Looks very nice with plain black or silver frame.
