"Landscape by moonlight" fascinates at first sight: The sky is wide open, the moon peeks over a band of clouds, the mighty wings of a mill tower like fingers into the air. The oil painting of the English landscape painter Pether unfolds its attraction through the clear division in the top and bottom. The earth, a path, a house, people in the distance are in the dark.
