Painting Frames "Kim" |
Louis XVI Gold • Serie: Chateau • Width: 51mm • Height: 40mm |
Kim seems to represent a small palace among his colleagues in the frame series Chateau. The designers have worked out this gold frame so skillfully and in such detail that a real piece of art has been created. Its palace character is made not only by the great color scheme, but also by the impressive way the paint was applied. The highest point of Kim appears with 40 mm wall distance at the top of the frame as a final, quite plain bar. The narrow design elements on this ledge look like elongated cylinders, tapering towards each other and featuring a ribbed texture. The following middle strip is smooth and runs concavely inwards. The designers have reinforced this hollow space in that they have perpetuated a motif here that is almost reminiscent of a colonnade. Both the column strokes and the spaces in between have been so cleverly designed with dark hatching and light gloss effects that an immense spatiality has been created here. The colonnade is almost real and finds an adequate finish at the upper and lower ends in straight, simple moldings. Towards the interior of the picture, another ornamental strip follows, which has relief-like elements. Overall, Kim becomes a real eye-catcher with antique effect due to the so-called craquelure in gold. |
