Gustav Klimt painted the painting "Death and Life" in 1910. This life consists of people of all generations: from the toddler to the aging woman, all ages are represented. The eyes of the figures showing the life are closed, their postures betray peace and relaxation. It seems they are unaware of the danger of death. The Grim Reaper, who symbolizes death, looks at life with a grin. Klimt emphasized the difference between life and death by dressing his life with colorful bright fabrics and cheerful patterns. In contrast, death wears a coat of dark colors and gloomy symbols. Gustav Klimt described this painting as his most important figurative work. However, in 1915, he was suddenly not completely satisfied with his work and began to revise the already framed painting. The once golden background has now turned gray and added both death and life with other ornaments.
